Characteristics of Child Development
The Characteristics of Child Development for week 1 was somewhat familiar, but I would like to explore more on Plasticity the human traits caught my interest learning and hearing about the different forms of molding and the durability of identity. Smidt, S. (2006)
These development characteristic are all important to prenatal growth. In the video Laureate Education, Inc. (2010) Dr. Gopnik, A., mention the way children were studied in the past and from the information gather, new development and modern research method began to change.
The developing child in the 21st century. Smidt, S (2006) also demonstrated how children were looked upon and treated through the years and as time passed they, changes emerge so did the treatment and expectations of children
The three developmental characteristic I chose was Multicultural, which focus on individual abandon some aspects and shifts within social groups. Multidisciplinary, maturation of the brain and the cognitive ability to understand connection between certain objects and other responses, and lastly Multidirectional which provide the mother- child bond was very powerful. Which I believe all take part in the development of a child and the study of prenatal development.
I consider all the developmental characteristics to be important to understanding child development, and based on what I have learned this week from the resources the information has given me a better understand of what new information is available when working with children.
