Birthing experience: I am a mother of a twenty-five year old son and I still have vivid memories of his birth. I was in labor for fourteen hours and my labor was induced and that is the worst labor but I did have a epidural because the labor was so long. My son was getting to big for his amniotic sack and I was two weeks over due so they induced my labor. I remember the pain and my nurse who was calm and wonderful through it all. My favorite aunt was there to hold my hand and has help me raise my son over the years. He is still close with her. I welcome my son into the world on April 20 1990 at 2:28 am and that was greatest moment of my life. He is my joy and my heart and I enjoyed every moment raising to be the man is today. He is a smart and loving man with two degrees from Purdue University in Electrical Engineering.

As,I explore other birth around the world I see different birthing positions some I have heard of some I was surprise to see. I could not pick just one country. I instead went on google and typed in the prompt birth around the world. A article by Alice Proujans about a photographer who took pictures of woman giving birth in different countries looked interesting. I looked at the pictures and found some similarities and differences. The similarities were that the babies were placed close the mother's heartbeat after having the baby and there were midwives and hospitals. I did see that the hospitals were very simple where as in most states hospital birthing rooms are set up as a bedroom.Midwives were a common person who made the deliveries in most of the countries like Malan and Nigeria.

The one thing the article pointed out was in United States it is taboo to show a woman naked body and in other culture that don't have that problem. It is a difference in culture and how the women are seen in society. Birth is a beautiful experience and without it we can't live.

Child development starts with birth and how the birth goes for the babies can determine how the child develops later. A rough start does happen for babies but does not mean a rough childhood because of plasticity a child can adapt and grow to lead a normal life.

  1. I enjoyed reading your blog about the childbirth of your son. What an exciting experience. Someday I hope to be able to have this opportunity. There are so many different stories out there about childbirth, so I do agree with you when you said you couldn't just pick one :). Good Information !

  2. Hello: Thanks for sharing such a happy event in your life. No matter how much time has past it;s an experience you can't forget. I too check out another country China yes there were a lot of stories. I chose China because the 30 day shut in was similar to what my mother believe. Nanasecretpalace.wordpress.com

  3. Hello, The memories of your birth is amazing! I enjoyed reading about your child birth. How was it without an epidural? As I read articles about different births, It mentioned that mothers that received epidurals aren't as affectionate as those who didn't because they haven't experienced the pain of childbirth! In my opinion... not true!! Great Post!

  4. What a beautiful birth story!
I did the same as you. I googled on birth around the world and I was in awe seeing all the different stories each picture brought.
When I was in the middle east, I was told by some friends that some Arabic women don't breastfeed their newborn baby because they may not feel beautiful again for their husband. I am not sure how true this is, though.

  5. Paula, what a nice story about the birth of your son. I also liked what you wrote about births around the world. It was very informational.. Birth is a wonderful experience but when you have no healthcare it can be very hard on a mother and her unborn child.
